Cancer Prevention in Nigeria.
Leigh is the Executive Producer of Cancer Prevention, a 75-minute program that aired in Abuja, Nigeria on the occasion of World Cancer Day 2021 and subsequently went viral on Nigerian social media. The purpose was to create awareness around the importance of early detection, screening, and lifestyle modifications (within the context of social determinants of health) to help prevent and reduce the risk of cancer. The program was developed for Project Pink Blue Health and Psychological Trust Center, Nigeria, in conjunction with the Society for Integrative Oncology and its Health Equity and Inclusion Task Force. Leigh is an investigator on an international research team from 11 countries that looked at community fairs as an important tool for promoting public awareness of cancer risk factors, preventative lifestyle strategies, and importance of early screening as critical elements of prevention and control. The study was presented at the 2020 Trans NCI-NIH Conference on International Perspectives on Integrative Medicine for Cancer Prevention and Cancer Patient Management.
